Decide it Ahead of Time
By Jeff Crone
I decided Ahead of time this year to have a great summer of fun with my family and friends and the Fourth of July weekend is a great time to follow through with that. Man, it just seemed like it was early summer and now here we are in the middle of it all. I hate to say this but two more short months and another summer will be behind us, don’t miss any opportunity to enjoy it with your family and friends. If one thing is consistent in life it’s the fact that time flies by much too quickly. Take things for granted and you may find yourself missing out, again.
I discovered this on the positive side last weekend when I was invited to celebrate my nieces 21st birthday with her and her family. After I nearly decided not to go, I eventually accepted the offer and stopped by. I realize how time spent with family and friends is so precious. We ate the typical summer food cookout items, grilled burgers, hotdogs, brats, potato salad, chips, etc. and then there was a devils food birthday cake I had to gracefully say no to. It definitely was worth the time to attend.
I recall 21 years ago when my bro’s daughter was born and now here she is full grown with a daughter of her own, once again and after the fact, those years having gone by really made me think about how fast it all goes. For me the good times will be remembered and treasured, as for the bad times I will push them aside and not dwell upon them or waste time thinking how it could’ve been different, life is just too short for that.
Last week I wrote about death, a subject no one really likes to talk about and I won’t elaborate too much about it other than to say, until you reach that destiny we all must one day face, live your life here to fullest extent possible and don’t exclude God from it. Say yes to the invitations to celebrate a loved ones birthday, choose not to miss any opportunity to spend precious time with family or friend’s, it could very well be the last time you have the opportunity to do so, none of us is guaranteed tomorrow. More importantly don’t leave God out of your life include Him by thanking Him for the things He has given you and the lives and health of your loved ones. It just becomes more and more apparent that as I grow older my loved ones become more important, I can’t imagine myself without them and I am absolutely certain most others feel this way too.
In conclusion I decided to write a short article this week. Those of you who follow my writings know I tend to say the same things over and over. I do this because the things I reiterate are so important not because I just don’t have anything else to say. Things like, God, family, friends, relationships, forgiveness, loving your self and others, being happy, letting go of the past, not missing out, etc. If I continue to reiterate these things effectively throughout the rest of my time here then, when I finally arrive at my final destination to meet my Creator, I will have said most of the things I needed to say and I can go home to my forever resting place content and at peace with a feeling of accomplishment. My hope today is for you and your family to have a wonderful Fourth of July weekend together and for those of you that need to, to decide that ahead of time.
