| Rez Times |
By Joe Morey This editorial today is all about advertising and what it means to the Ojibwe Times. As you already know, you didn’t pay to pick up this copy of the Ojibwe Times, it was free. The only source of revenue we have to put this thing together is our advertisers. My job as publisher of the Times is to get as many of you out there as possible throughout Indian Country in Northern Wisconsin to pick up a free copy and read the pages within, thus insuring a good response for our advertisers so that they continue to choose the Times. If our advertisers felt it wasn’t working they would leave us and we wouldn’t be able to print. We wouldn’t be able to bring you this free copy and we would be unable to provide you this great service of bringing you the news and events affecting our tribes on a weekly basis.

So you see how important our advertisers are to us and how important they are to you as well. For without them, there’d be no Ojibwe Times. So please, check out the advertisers – check out who is advertising in this paper and support them. Some of them don’t even need the advertising but they do it because they want to support your community and make it possible for us to have a newspaper, so remember them when you need a service done - Remember them when you are thinking of going out for dinner, or you need repairs on your car, or when you’re planning on shopping, buying tobacco, getting gas, fixing up your computer, or - well - you get the point! These advertisers want your business, that is why they advertised, and they recognize the value of your patronage. Without these advertisers, the Ojibwe Times wouldn’t be possible, so let them know you saw it in the Times! The Ojibwe Times has been publishing for all of our northern Tribes for the past four months now and I’ve been very short-staffed recently, especially in the sales department (the position is vacant) and that’s why you’ll notice that our ads all come from LCO and Lac du Flambeau. I’ve only been able to begin expanding our presence and making it more known on Lac du Flambeau, but plans in are in the works for the other tribes. I’d like to say here that the response from the Lac du Flambeau community has been awesome and I appreciate your support. Very soon I’ll be trying to make more of a presence on the other reservations Red Cliff, Bad River and St. Croix and I look forward to working with you all. Once again, Miigwech advertisers, we appreciate your support!
