Celebrate
By Jeff Crone
This past week we celebrated our freedom with food family, fun and fireworks, our Casino put on one awesome Fourth of July fireworks display, miigwetch to all who were involved, what a great annual tradition. Personally The Fourth of July celebration is the epitome of my summer time fun. Next will be the Honor The Earth Homecoming celebration which is also a special time of the year for me as well as for many others.
Gratefully I look forward to the opportunity to celebrate the homecoming of many family and friends who have migrated out of the area. As most know there are just not enough jobs and opportunities to sustain all of our families here year round so many have to move out of the area to provide for their families. Our population grows but the jobs and other economic opportunities unfortunately don’t grow with it.
It’s the Creators good will that we celebrate our freedom. I will always quote George Bush here, “I personally believe it’s every mans innate desire to be free.” For some he isn’t their personal preference as a leader but some of his points sure make sense to me. Personally I remember him by the quote I repeatedly cite him by.
How about you this year? You don’t have only remember and celebrate freedom on just one week out of the year, personally I thank God everyday I am free. This year I hope to inspire you to do the same. Many sacrifices were made for that freedom and don’t forget what was done on your behalf from the divine perspective as well. So celebrate each and everyday you are free, not everyone on this planet can do so. Miigwetch to the Creator.
